Christmas at Leeds Castle
First, let’s not confuse the name with the city of Leeds. Leeds Castle doesn’t lie at that West Yorkshire‘s city. This lovely England castle located at Maidstone in the village of Leeds, Kent. That’s why it is called Leeds Castle. The castle and its ground are a popular vacation spot especially during Christmas and holiday season
The castle has stood on this ground for over a thousand years, dates back to 12th century. It consists of 500 acres of glorious land surrounding the castle and its moat. The beauty of the surrounding panoramic view is home to over 100 species of endangered birds. Also, at the castle island, placed a museum with a collection of a very different kind – dog collars, dating back to the sixteenth century.
The Culpeper and the Lady Baillie Garden flourish with various wonderful flowers and plants, while the maze with its secret underground grotto provides a challenging half hour (or more!) unless you’d rather opt for a cup of tea in the Wykeham Martin Tea Room.
Aside from its historic value, the former royal palace for King Edward I of England and his queen, Eleanor of Castile in 1278, has been known for its hosted events. Some of them are Half Term Magic Week (October), Festive Fair (November), Music & Light Firework Spectacular (November), Legend of Exacalibur Firework Spectacular (November), and least bust not least, Christmas at the Castle (December).
Enjoy your Christmas in this beautiful castle…
