The Tana Toraja (“Land of Toraja”) is an icon of tourism in Indonesia, its famous only second to Bali. This indigenous people are renowned for their traditional funeral rites with burial sites carved into rocky cliffs. The funeral rites are also regarded as important social events, attended by hundreds of people and lasting for several days.
Before the 1970s, Toraja was almost unknown to Western tourism, but today their popularity is uncontestable. Tourism industries have marketed Tana Toraja as an exotic adventure and indeed, there are a lot of interesting objects scattered throughout the area.

18. Bori: a viilage with a collection of chiseled stoned showing the existence of a place for funeral purposes of a clan.
